You might wonder what the term "reputation management" refers to. Is it creating a good online presence? Is it good social media? Take a moment to think about what happens when you shop online. This can be for products OR services. Do you always shop at the first website visited? Do you click around the web and gather more information first? Do you read reviews to help make a more informed decision? Of COURSE YOU DO!

According to Forbes, 60% or more of consumers research Google reviews of a business before ever deciding to do business with them. That's powerful! So what happens if you don't have any reviews? You might be a great and reputable business but will your potential customers see that?

Online reviews can happen in multiple places and depending on what business you run will determine where you want reviews to show up. However, it's always a safe bet to start with Google. Most online traffic runs on Google so it makes sense that you want good reviews there.

If you are a healthcare provider, you might want reviews not just on Google but sites like Healthgrades or vitals. These types of sites are more health-specific and are a great way to increase your online reputation.

If you sell merchandise online, it's nice to have reviews with Amazon and Google.

So what if you already have some good reviews? That's great news but unless you are receiving new and positive reviews regularly, Google doesn't find them as reputable. And your potential customers/clients/patients will view them as old and possibly not valuable.
